Quest for the Dragon’s Treasure: OER at NMLA

OER materials make me incredibly happy–free educational materials that you can use, re-use, remix, and re-distribute? I love so many things about Open Source materials, which is why I am presenting a session about OER at the New Mexico Library Association’s 2024 Conference in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The Lowdown

This session is responding to the theme of NMLA in 2024, which is Dragons in the Dark: Demystifying Librarianship in the Age of AI and Censorship. My presentation covers open educational resources and how educators and the community can find and integrate open materials into their lives and work.

On this webpage, I am sharing all the materials I am using for this presentation.

OER Presentation

First, I am embedding my presentation:

Activity: Let’s Get to Know Each Other

During slide elevent of my presentation, I asked attendees to contribute their ideas in the Padlet presentation below. These will be actual responses from librarians.

OER Interest Form

Lastly, at the end of my presentation, I asked attendees to navigate to this linked worksheet: OER Brainstorming Worksheet. This Google doc asks for 1) participant contact information and 2) any information about participants’ research needs and interests regarding Open Educational Materials.

I am grateful to be sharing my love of OER with a new group of people. Hooray for OER!
